I would like to publicly thank the weather gods for waiting until Wednesday to rain instead of Monday so that Freedom Dogs could have a beautiful sunny day for our golf tournament.
I’d also like to thank Live Source for making it possible for Freedom Dogs to have an auction this year. Because of covid, we opted not to have a dinner/silent auction and we were concerned that as a result, we would have a major shortfall in our fundraising goal.
Freedom Dogs is a small, all volunteer nonprofit so we aren’t able to afford the thousands of dollars that the large online auction companies charge. I’m grateful to have found another option through Giving Back Magazine. Live Source is a local online auction company that does not charge you a huge upfront fee; you only pay a 5% transaction fee on whatever you sell.
I’m so excited to write that we made more money on our auction than ever before. A major plus to an online auction is that you aren’t limited to just your event guests to buy things; we had people from all over the country who had winning bids. And our golf tournament was much less stressful because we didn’t have to set up all of the auction tables and then scramble at the end to figure out who won what and get all of the items together.
Mary Alyce Levin & Scott Levin are the owners/founders of Live Source and they were an absolute joy to work with and were available to us 24/7. Both of them even worked our event – they greeted the golfers in the morning and showed them how to bid. And then in the afternoon, Mary stopped by again to make sure we were okay.
While I’m at it, I’d also like to give a shout out to the Fairbanks Ranch Country Club – best staff ever, reasonably priced and a gorgeous course.
