Our most recent “Feel Good Friday” really hits close to home for me. I never met my maternal grandmother because she died of a stroke when my mom was a young girl. And over the weekend, one of my besties had a heart attack. My bestie did not have any earlier symptoms or a pre-existing condition. She had terrible pain and vomiting so thankfully, a friend who was with her, drove her to the emergency room. She was lucky because the hospital she went to has a great cardiac team who completed her stint placement within two hours of her arrival. If she did not go to the hospital right away, there’s a strong likelihood that she would have died. So, please, be aware of the symptoms of heart disease/stroke and DO NOT wait to call 911.️Every year that I attend the American Heart Associaiton’s “Go Red For Women” event, I learn something new as well as get a refresher course on how to prevent heart disease & recognize the warning signs.
