The thought of people being hungry truly breaks my heart especially since there is more than enough food to go around. San Diego is definitely one of the most beautiful places in the world and as a result, we pay a high price to live here. For many people, the large majority of their paychecks go towards rent and at the end of the day, there’s not enough left to buy food. And please know that these aren’t slackers; a lot of these households have both parents working, some of them working two jobs just to try to make ends meet. And, according to “Hunger on Campus”, 50% of community college students and 47% of four-year college students reported food insecurity. So, kudos to Vanessa Ruiz & the San Diego Food Bank for helping fill one of the most basic necessities of life.
